Dear all,

My girlfriend and I are thinking about making some voluntary work nearby Ho Chi Minh during the whole month of September. During the week end we would have free time to visit the surroundings.

However we are little bit affraid with regard to the high rainfalls occuring in this region at this time.

Do you have any experience in that regard? Is the weather solely hot and humid? Are there are also some hours of sunshine during the day so that you can also go to the beach.

We are coming from Austria where in general the weather is rather cold. Hence even so bronzing in the sun is not our primary focus, weather is determining factor for our decision on weather or not to go to southern Vietnam.

Thank you very much for your help.

Florian

Yes, it will rain, but it won't rain all day and it won't rain everyday. There will be plenty of sun and warmth to go around. You can't control the weather so why let it control you?

Have a fun trip!

It's unpredictable in August / September - it could rain pretty heavily for most of the day for several days in a row (as happened to me in 2008) or there could be just the occasional heavy fall in between long sunny periods. Or you might get no rain at all.

Even when it was absolutely throwing it down in Saigon for days on end, Nha Trang weather was gorgeous and sunny. If you're a bit flexible in your plans and have appropriate light waterproof clothing, it shouldn't be too much of a problem.

I wrote a few posts about it at the time in 2008 if you're interested.
