Yeah, the damage is 2 slabs of VB's until further notice.
Try to visit a Viet TA in your local area, they charge the same and you can save time and money (express post envelope).You'll get your passport back with visa within 3 days max.

The sydney consulate shuts over lunch and early each day. I got stuck a few days ago trying to do a lunch time dash. But the hours are 9 - 12:30 and 1:30 to 4pm each day in Edgecliff (right next to the station - 1 door down).
I'm a little confused regarding the above replies. I didn't think it was such a good idea to post off your passport and leave it with others??? Have most people done this over mail?
I've got all of my paper work ready and am struggling to make it in to the office at an open time. thanks in advance for more detail!

Hi There,

If you live interstate then you don't have much choice about your passport heading into the mail system.

It has to go to the Vietnamese embassy in Canberra so whether you mail it or a travel agent mails it - it will be mailed!! :-)

It is perfectly safe and I like the overnight envelopes because you get a tracking number. Although next time I will need to use parcel post as I'm going to try Sunrises two slabs of VB payment!!

cost depends on how long you want to stay. any more than a month and you're looking at a 3 month entry visa - single entry is $100 and multiple is $160. if you call the number on the vietnamese consulate (sydney) website, they can give you info over the phone. bring cash, a photo, passport and completed application.

It is definitely $70 AUD for a 30 day visa.
