Hi all,

Love some words of wisdom!

As I have said before I am going to Vietnam in December and still can't decide whether to go to Bangkok for a few days first and then spend the rest of 2 & 1/2 weeks in Vietnam or just fly straight to Vietnam from Sydney and see where I end up in terms of going on to Laos and Cambodia.

I'd love to have about a month, however unfortunately - time is of the essence on this journey. I keep wondering about Thailand.

Thank you...

It depend what you looking for, if you like beach BKK have none, you have to go further south. If you like shopping Thailand is better than Vietnam and cheaper. Vietnem is Vietnem no place like it, its chaos but exiting, beautiful yet sad (as in History). a mix of modern and old but all viet.
If you looking for quiet time go to Laos.
Cambodia Ankrowat is a big draws other than that few place in this nation really worth a special trip.

i would go to Vietnam first, it is green, clean and cheap. Bangkok last to do some shopping then fly home.

I do love Bangkok. But, Vietnam is great, and the more time spent there, the more you'll be able to see and do. However, if money is an issue, you should be able to fly cheaper if you head to BKK. You can fly to Hanoi via AirAsia from there, then perhaps cross overland via Cambodia from HCMC.

I would say go to Bangkok only if you like to shop. If not, stay in Vietnam - it's beautiful there. :)
