Hi, hoping we can have some advice. In Ho Chi Minh and had planned to stay for a few days and then head to Cambodia but find ourselves stuck here for almost a week because of tet. We can't organise transport out so looking for ideas to get out of the city for a couple of days. Does anyone have any ideas for places to stay or things to do to fill in the time. Thanks

You will probably find that transport out of the city is fully booked over the festive period and, if you are to get out of the city, accommodation will be booked wherever you manage to get. Prices will have also shot through the roof.

Many places will be closed over Tet, especially tourist attractions. Find somewhere nice to sit and have a beer or two, wander down to look at the Tet flower displays, work on your sun tan. If you're looking for something to do tonight, there is a big Tet party at Q4 club at 7 Nguyễn Tất Thành, Quận 4 - just over the river from district 1 - live music, djs and a good location to watch the fireworks away from the madness!

I have just witnessed Phonm Pehn Sorya Transports 13.45 service depart for P.P.
With 12 Passengers on a Bus with a capacity of 45.
They cited that there are seats available tomorrow the 10th.
The RIth Mony Bus also cited that there are seats on their 2 services tomorrow
Plus there are about 4 other companies that service this route

Thanks for the replies, interesting to hear that buses are available as we spent some time trying to organise a bus for the 11th from our hotel and also a number of tourist places this morning. We even checked out the boats and plane (plane we couldn't afford as way too expensive.) Will take the advise and sit back and enjoy the local entertainment. Thanks

Oh, that is possible. 8th and 10th people are at home, 11 and 12 get heavy travel usually. Either sit and wait til Tet is over or try and leave today. Prices for hotels in Vietnam will be very high, though.
