Thanks for all replies. After reading and searching, We are thinking about Hanoi- Halong- Ninh Binh- HCMC-Mekong.What do you think about the itinerary? Further, I heard a lot of good things about Halong Bay through my friends who also tell me it has new cruise tour for traveling Halong-Cat Ba island line. Do you know about that and is good for traveling?

Halong Bay is a great choice. I was there last year and everything was perfect with breathtaking views and stunning caves. I stayed 2 days on the cruise and took part in a lot of interesting activities. You would love to participate in Vietnamese cooking class, kayaking or squid fishing. You will travel in May when the weather in Vietnam is hot and sunny, so it's ideal to do those activities.

I think you can start your trip in Ha Long Bay, then Ninh Binh and head to the south of Vietnam. But May is the dry season and you have the activities mostly on the boat so Mekong river seems to be less attractive. Do some research on other places in the South like Hoi An, Da Nang, Nha Trang beach, Lang Co beach...

There is a new luxurious cruise named La Pinta Cruise. It just launched from March but the services are so excellent with professional staffs and guide. It's a 4-star cruise, so you don't have to worry about its quality. Anyway, it's worth trying.

If you like smaller towns and natural beauty and lots of cultures, i think you should make the Sapa tours. You can choose Sapa day tour (it takes you 1 day to visit Sapa)
