My parents are meeting me in Hanoi and are staying at the Sofitel plaza in hanoi. I don't want to spend $800 on a single room for the days that I am there but I'd like to be near them. I stayed at the Church Hotel near the lake last trip and I loved it, but I have a feeling it will be too far away from them.
Can anybody recommend a hotel close to the Sofitel Plaza that is more of a mid range hotel?
Thanks so much for any help! I'm leaving in 2 weeks and would like to get this sorted before I go.

you can contact with one travel agent to book a room in a hotel that you want. There are many kinds of hotels near there, so do not worry about that. what you have to do is find one travel company to book room for you

I mean the Sofitel Plaza Hotel in the Ba Dinh Dictrict on Thanh Nien Road. I may stay near the cathedral anyway, but thought that if there were a decent hotel close to THAT particular Sofitel then I'd do that.

Hi Veg,
It is about $40 US for a standard room, we paid $80 for a suite which was very comfortable for us and the two children. It was more than we wanted to pay but we had great difficulty finding accommodation in the OQ in April, it was very nice though and I would happily stay there again.
Very clean, good staff, great service, nice big buffet breakfast and only a five minute walk to the OQ!
