Hi, have noticed that the Orchid Hotel in Hue is ranked very high on Travel Advisor by the people that haved stayed there. It is 3 star but most say that it is more like a 5 star and is very reasonably priced. Has anyone on this site stayed there and can provide any comments.

Yes its great,location super clean large, however they do not appear to discourage old blokes hooking up with young local girls and I personally found this disturbing

I stayed there in early March(1 review is mine),it's new,the staff are fantastic & understand the customer service concept, which is rare.
Only has about 17 rooms so its regularly booked out.Rooms are big & very clean,decent bathroom.
Great position 1 block from the river,loads of food options within 3 minutes walk.
Cant really comment on the old blokes thing,didnt see it personally.

We stayed there for one night in November. It was great. The people were really helpful and friendly. And the room huge and spotless.
We took a boat tour down the river after spending the night there, and they stored our bags, and had a shower room downstairs for us to use before catching our train to Hanoi. Awesome.
Plus, we would occasionally find dead mosquitoes around the room. Do they spray with something? Don't know.

We stayed there in Oct. and yes it is a very nice hotel for the money. Very nice indeed !
The staff is very friendly and very helpful.
The breakfast is also very good.
Great location, and just a short ride from the train station.
Highly recommended !

Yes, a great hotel but not on the commercial power grid like many other hotals and only has a small back-up generator. This means that during the regular half-day power shutdowns we have here this summer, the lights and internet stay no but no a/c if that's an issue for you (it was 33 degrees here today).

I hope you get this sorted out before you get there...
I actually just called the Orchid Hotel for my own purposes and they said they're closing down in May 07 for renovations. So it depends when you're heading over to Hue, but make sure the hotel's actually open aight before getting your hopes up!
