Just trying to see if there's a place that people would recommend for staying in HCMC. I'm a single traveller, so ideally somewhere where it's easy to meet people. Any suggestions would be much appreciated
Thanks

Stay in the block between Pham Ngu Lao, De Tham and Bui Vien St. and you'll meet many.

Lots of accom all over there, dorm beds starting around 6 or 7USD.

The price may go up 1 or 2$ cos its high season now

Or you can have your own room on Bui Vien street, on the opposite side of Go2 Bar. They have rooms from 7$. Lots of budget travelers there.

I highly recommend a guesthouse called, "My home". It's on alley #104 off Bui Vien (you can also get to it from PNL - it's the alley next to the TK Mart convenient store). Single rooms, not a hostel, peaceful and quiet (for the most part) and owned by a very nice woman and her family. Runs about 200,000 dong a night (a/c extra). Free wi-fi and computer usage, free bananas, exchange money at a good rate, cable tv and fan in the room, private bathroom.

In search of a more intelligent planet for my next life. If you have a recommendation, let me know.

OP:
It would have helped if you had told us your price range.
There are a few websites that give all cost ranges, asiarooms being one.
Don't worry about meeting people, I am not the most gregarious of people but there is something about SE Asia that gets folk talking be they tourists, locals or expats
