Anybody ever stay at the Golden Buffalo Hotel in the Old Quarter of Hanoi?

We're arriving in Hanoi on 18 July and wanted to stay in a decent mid-range hotel (~$25 for a double with aircon) for a couple of days before heading down the coast.

Any suggestions for alternate hotels?

Thanks so much!

hi there,

My husband and i stayed at Sunshine 2 hotel in the old quarter. Breakfast and internet included in price. Price range from $18 to $30... Brand new hotel aswell. Thought the bathroom was great. The 30 dollar room comes with a computer and internet.

If you travel to Nha Trang we also stayed at a place called Nice Hotel original name i know but honestly was amazing. We were in room 703 and your view is the great china sea and you will be greeted with the sunrise every morning. The room felt like a mini apartment great price $15 also brand new.

Hope that help.

thank you so much for the tips. the nice hotel sounds amazing. if we book ahead, we'll most definitely request room 703. as for the sunshine 2: breakfast and internet sound like a nice bonus.

In Hoi Ann, check out the Thanh Xuan Hotel Lovely rooms, breakfast and free internet for $25.00 per night. If you email ahead, they will pick you up at either the airport or rail station in Denang for $10.00. This was especially nice when our flight was delayed (HOURS!) out of Hanoi and we arrived tired and grumpy at midnight and our smiling driver was right there and wisked us away to Hoi Ann. I have never stayed at a more friendly place.

We did the cooking class with Red Bridge in Hoi Ann and enjoyed it very much.

Vietnam is so very beautiful and the people are wonderful!
