Ah, you guys are just a bunch of badgering vultures. I mean it. True, Hanoian Vietnamese are NOT known for their gracious hospitality (the countryside has very nice people.) City folk in Vietnam are no exception, they are bustling, busy, and to us newly-arrived, downright rude. You're giving Eileen76 the third degree for allowing a guy to steal her mobile phone?!?! Fact is, it's a deplorable situation, and you guys aren't making any friends. Oh, is that surprising? These guys couldn't keep any friends, otherwise they'd be busy doing something else!

The typical mindset is: "Oh, foreigner. Looks like some money (i.e.,not destitute). Quick calculations in my head, okay, I'll overcharge 500%, I'll get something good out of it." I see them thinking like this EVERYTIME I meet a vendor (with the occcasional rare exception.)

I say, if this is the way Capitalism is to be in Vietnam, let VIETNAM BE COMMUNIST! They are getting it all wrong, overcharging and hiding the true prices. Makes one think, are they one generation away from Enron? I think so. You're seeing China do it...
