I am sure Disneyland produces more garbage in a day than a mid-sized town in Vietnam in a month. Start the educational process at home.

Mango Bay on Phu Quoc island is an eco resort to the extent that it is low density, no air-con, solar hot water, no phones in villas. Beautiful location with cows, hens and hunting dogs roaming the resort. Would thoroughly recommend it. Little pricey - we paid $30 US per night for a double in Feb 07 but it had a lovely feel about it, delicious cheap food, and very romantic for couples.

I didn't expect so much contention from a simple post. If the thread continues, I'm sure it will get around to slamming the U.S. We can only hope, right??
The eco-tourism movement is becoming popular in places like Costa Rica, and Brasil. It only seems natural that it would gain popularity in a place like VN, with the natural beauty of the forest and such. And, where mass market tourism has yet to pave everything over in asphalt and concrete. It's a pretty simple concept, and has nothing to do with running around picking up trash. Before you flame something, maybe find out a little bit about a subject first. There's plenty of info on the web about the subject, check it out.
Thanks sarney, and NormC. Appreciate you efforts. The rest of you, thanks for nothing.
OK now, Flame on.

Way more than that, since a mid-side town in VN have few things to throw away but all those will ended up in the river and that's not cool, on the other hand Mickey do recycle everything.

and that's not cool

It's also not cool that child malnutrition remains a serious problem in rural Vietnam. it's also not cool that Robert McNamara needed some 30 years to comment on his war record. It is also not cool that the USA needed more than 30 years to react, in a roundabout way to its chemical war record in Vietnam. Trash in Vietnam is not a priority.

Eco Tourism is huge business, just look at Costa Rica, it has set aside 10% of its land to refuges and parks, and also the majority of its islands and seashores are protected for turtles nesting, schooling fish and reefs.
Eco Tourism now accounts for the majority of its GDP, some 2.4 Million people visit CR for nature, adventure, and pristine parks and refuges, rivers, volcanoes. Of course its also the most Bio Diverse country in the western Hemisphere, so that helps, as it has a wide range of forest from rain to tropical and jungle and cloud forest...to name a few...
Eco Tourism is the future for may countries with high unemployment, poverty, and vast tracks of wilderness...
