Hi There!
Thanks to everyone who previously replied to my questions, these forums are great! Another question for you all now;
I've been looking into doing some tours i.e cu chi tunnels & mekong delta etc, but in travel agency books everything seems to be so expensive, does anyone recommend pre-booking before i leave oz or would i find the tours cheaper once i arrive in HCMC???
Cheers!!

Hi There,
You will definitely find the tours cheaper once you arrive in HCMC. We booked with Sinhcafe
246-248 DeTham, Q1, Ho Chi Minh City. Tel: (08) 8367338 - 8376833
We did the Cu Chi half day tour and a full day Mekong tour (big day 8am - 8pm) We simply walked there the day we arrived and booked, they were very cheap about $8 from memory. We were really happy with them, we had a great time!
Have a look at their website, they offer a number of different tours.
Good Luck :)

Tours are cheap and plentiful. Sometimes tours vary by a couple of dollars, so look around if you want to try and save some money. Higher prices do not necessarily mean a better tour in my experience.

We were amazed at just how much the cost varied, booking from Australia we were quoted $45 -$60 per person, the hotel in HCMC quoted us approx. $35 per person!
You can imagine our surprise when we walked to the original sinh cafe (on the advice of TTers before the trip) paid $8 each ($1 extra for the bus to collect and drop us directly at our hotel) and both tours really were good value.
There were six of us so the saving was quite substantial!

We also booked through Sinh Cafe - but prebooked over the net, and paid when we got there. (In fact we paid after getting an airport pickup, one nights accomodation - then went to the Cafe' to pay up and catch the bus for a tour).
Might be worth an email to them.

Agree with #1 & 3 - It is best to go to the original Sinh Cafe in person (It is conveniently located). I have used their services for the Cu Chi tour and the Mekong Delta plus exit to Phonm Penh and have no complaints. If you book tours from home you end up paying commission and a premium price for a service that will be no better than what you can walk in and pay for the day before in the Sinh Cafe.
