Hey, I've done a search and even tried calling their embassy in Ottawa several times but not getting a response. I am still confused about getting a Vietnam visa, hope some fellow canadians can help me out
(1) How long is the tourist visa and how much does it cost? I'm hearing 30days -> 42days. Also, are the days fixed?
(2) Payment: on the downloadable form, it says cash / money order / or certified check. I'm also seeing some people paying by with credit card (VISA) but it doesn't say that's an accepted payment on the form. What are you guys doing? Writing the visa#expiry date on the form?
(3) I'm not going to Vietnam directly from Canada. Going overland from Thailand. Would I have an easier (cheaper) time just getting it in Bangkok? Anyone have experience with that?
Thanks!
Ken

I don't know about Toronto, but I'm going through a travel agent in Vancouver (will cost $90) which is probably more than going through Ottawa, but much more convenient for them to take care of everything. It's a place called Vietnam Travel 604-639-5100. They may have another office in Toronto?

Hi,
thanks for the information about VOA, but I don't think the system works if going overland from Cambodia --> Vietnam.

If you're going overland from Cambodia, there's your answer!! GET THE VISA IN CAMBODIA!! Any guest house in P.P can arrange it for you. Simple.

#4 is right on! It is cheapest and probably fastest in either PP or Snookyville. I prefer Snooky as the visa agency is easier to get to and less busy. Usual 15 minutes time!

Hey everybody,
thanks so much for the responses. The "control freak" side of me wants to have the visa dealt with before setting off....but it seems like it's easier to get it in Cambodia :)

Try to find out about visa at arrival from www.vietnamstay</a> or vietnam visa guide or www.sunshinetravel.com</a>. I did see it recommended somewhere else in the TT. Goodluck. Just watch out with credit card payment!

Hi, I just sent my passport to the Vietnamese consulate in Ottawa for my visa. The cost is $79 Cdn for a single entry (30day visa). You have to send it to them (takes 5 business days) and also provide them with a prepaid enevelope/FEDEX envelope tp mail back to you.
If you have the time, you could get the visa before you leave Canada and avoid trying to find the oddice in Ottawa. The cost quoted by post #1 sounds about right.
