I am travelling to Vietnam in Nov 07. Have been there before, but am wondering if anybody knows of a way to book train tickets from Hanoi to Danang from outside of Vietnam. I arrive in hanoi but due to time constraints wont have the time to wait and take luck at getting seats for the trip, so was hoping to book 3 seats ahead of arriving in Hanoi. So far have only come up with leads that dont work. Look forward to hearing from anybody with this info. Cheers.

Between July and November, sometimes the typhoons hit the central coat of VN between Quang Binh and Phu Yen. You'd better check the weather forecast as well, in case of typhoons, sometimes both train and plane will be cancelled.

I'm booked to stay at the Hanoi Elegance 2 in July. I've emailed them my itinerary, which involves train and plane travel, and they're booking the whole lot for me, at little or no mark up. Admitedly, there's no guarantee that they will actually do it, but they seem really nice, and haven't even asked for any money up front. It also looks quite a decent place to stay, if you're yet to find one.
