Hey guys,
I'm currently traveling in SE Asia and will arrive in Hanoi soon. The plan is to go for 6 days to Sapa and about 4 days to the ha long Bay. A traveller told me I shouldn't book any tours in advance from hanoi, such that I will get the same tour much (by at least a factor of 2) cheaper when I arrive at the destination by myself and look around. Is this true, or should I organize something from hanoi? I guess if I go with a decent tour operator it shouldn't make a huge difference... What's your experience?

Of course, travelling by yourself will be cheaper than taking a tour. However, if this is the first time you have come to Vietnam or you don't have much experience of Vietnam, you should carefully seek information (price, places to see, hotels,..) to prepare for the trip. In case you you hire a travel agent, they will support you to plan the vacation.
