We would be staying put in Hue for 3 days. One of the days, I was wondering if I could go to Hoi An? Like a day trip? ... Or can I skip Hoi An totally?
Anyway, do also let me know what is the best way to get to Hoi An from Hue? How are buses and what do they cost approx? Any other modes of transport suggestion(please do let me know the costs as well)..

You should stay in Hoi An where there are lots of must see landscapes than Hue and you can organize a day trip to Hue from Hoi An. There are some reliable open bus companies in Hoi An such as Sinh cafe, Hanh cafe , An Phu..but i suggest you to get a private car as you can stop anywhere you like on the ways to Hue/Hoi An. The price for open bus is around $8/person and private car is $60/car.

I haven't done it yet but I'm planning to go to Hoi An from HCMC in about 10 days. The advice I have is to fly to Danang (Jetstar) then take a bus from Danang to Hoi An.

You can book flight from HCMC to Da Nang city through VIetnam airlines, Jetstar airlines or Vietjetair and take a taxi/private car to Hoi An. it takes only 40 minutes to reach Hoi An from Da Nang airport.

I"m not planning on going to Hue. My interest in going to Hoi An is to do a cooking course. The rest of my time in Vietname will be spent in the Delta.
