I wouldn't say Nha Thrang but there is a beach north of Nha Thrang called Doc let Beach.; A hotel White Sands Doc Let Resort & Spa. Personally, I love lounging around a beach rather to surf so, as you said, our opinion is respected. I love calm beaches.

Hey all,

Wow this is confusing, and as of post 10 we are diverting ;)!

In case it helps, I am 26 and have been with my BF for 7,5 years. We are not wild partypeople anymore ;) We are more the types that enjoy good cocktails on the beach and I nice dinner. I am also working in the fashion industry. Hotel stars do not tell me too much, I prefer hotels that make me feel at home and have a fresh design AND are not too pricy.

From what I can see, Na thrang is favourite of many as well ad Doc Let. Are they easy to reach by public transport? How would you describe the difference between these two? Any good hotels with good rates anyone could recommend? Does not need to be 5 star, also a 3 star recent hotel would be okay. How long of a stay would you recommend?

Thanks again for your help!

Kindest regards,

Missterious

To me Nha Trang looked and felt like a beach that was pretty ordinary. An urban beach full of a jillion tourists looking for their few square meters is not my thing.

I liked Mui Ne for the diversity of local geography (dunes and funky walking areas) and the small local village up the way. The long beach allowed us to find areas witout hardly a sole. Perhaps it was the time of year. We had some fun surf when we were there also thanks to a recent storm. Also had some fun on some unfrequented beaches several kilometers south of Quy Nhon (the beach in town is filthy with human waste).

Have not visited Phu Quoc but it has many rave reviews here.

I will be honest I didn't like Nha Trang. The beach itself is fine, but I thought the town was a crowded mess of tourists which was good for a beer during a coach stopover or a night out, but I'm glad we didn't stay there. Also, when we were there the beach was very crowded. As someone else has mentioned though, Mui Ne was a lovely beach, which was virtually deserted when we went in May.

Diamond Bay Wonderpark, a new resort and beach has opened 10km south of Nha Trang. If you don't want crowds on your beach, this will keep you happy. Although there are 400-odd rooms in the resort, the guest list is very short so far. I can't give you any indication of price, other that my guess that it will cost you heaps.

For day visitors the 60,000DVN entrance fee covers transport from the car park to the beach by electric runabout, deck chair, and a cool beach shelter to sit under. The staff are polite and helpful. I was there today and can recommend it as a quiet place to spend the day within easy distance of Nha Trang night life.

Nha Trang has cheap hotels, and is close enough to commute to Diamond Bay by BUS for 4,000DVN - cheap ! You can get the best of both worlds.

But it's in a resort Ralph!

No real traveler will fork out 3USD for a beach in a resort. Even if it is exactly what they're looking for...
