i've seen ads for accommodation in the capital and Saigon in the Vietnam News -an English-language national newspaper which is easily available. not sure if they have listings on line but it's worth a try - otherwise, you can wait until you arrive and check out the ads.
I sent you a private message (see the blue line at the top right corner under LP photo) with some info posted by TTers about Hanoi accommodation. I'm not sure if those appartment owners would be happy to let someone to rent for only a month, often the rental contract should be valid at least 3-6 months. However, pls do some search. Good luck!

Google "expatvietnam", sometimes expats offer shared apartments there. Forget about ads in "Vietnam News", usually real estate companies post there and you have to rent at least for three months and besides these flats are mostly "serviced apartments" for about 500 USD a month. BTW Vietnam News is a very good newspaper, I read it daily. Good luck.

You should ask the ones, you were contacting with, in Hanoi for help. IMHO, you should stay at a guess house. A month rent is cheaper than day to day rent for a month.
I believe the name in Vietnamese is "benh vien Dong Y" as "benh vien" means "hospital" ; and "Dong Y" means oriental (Dong) medicine (Y) which included both local Vietnamese traditional and Chinese remedies and accupunture.
Paulle, in Hanoi we call it "Benh vien y hoc co truyen" (traditional medical hospital) using both Vietnamese and Chinese medical herbs and applying accupunture to the patients, that hospital is localted on Nguyen Binh Khiem street, just a short walk to Thien Quang lake.
Dong Y (oriental medicine) has opposite meaning to Tay Y (western medicine).

thank you to you all for the reccomendations.
I still have two months ahead to get there but its nice to start having an idea of what to do .
Hongha is right regarding the hospital, well, Ill be in two institutes, first 15 days,Traditional Medicine Institute Dr. Chu Quoc Truong and the last 15 days, in the nationalaccupuncture Institute Dr. Nguyen Tai Thu.
All the best
Dr Nguyen Tai Thu is a very famous doctor. If you can have the chance to meet and work with him, then you are really lucky.
I hope you will have a great time in Hanoi. By the way, if you are in Hanoi in August, be ready to face with the heat, 35-38oC.
Prof. Nguyễn Tài Thu is afaik head physician at the Hospital of Acupuncture (Bệnh viện Châm cứu). This hospital is on Thái Thịnh 49 – Đống Đa District. Prof. Chu Quốc Trường is based at the above mentioned National Hospital of Traditional Medicine (Bệnh viện Y học cổ truyền Trung ương).
I would try to find a room on the Campus of Hanoi's University of Technology (Khu KTX Đại học Bách Khoa Hà Nội). UoT is in the middle btw those 2 hospitals. They have a dormitory for international visiting students. There should be plenty of short term vacancy in August.
