I am just researching accommodation in Nha Trang and looking for something midrange which is near a nice beach. I came across White Sand Doc Let which seems nice but can't find any travellers review on it. Anyone out there stayed there or even heard anything about it? I have done numerous searches on the web and in the travel books on it so guessing it must be new or renamed!!
Help!

Everything is near the beach, nothing on the beach, but plenty of big hotels across from the beach as its separated by a 4 lane boulevard.
I suggest the south end, as the nightlife, cafes and guides, airline offices and beach activity is all on the south end.
Use Rainbow divers locale for the northern side, and Ana Mandara resort as farthest south you need to be.
I had a great Guesthouse in from the beach 3 blocks, on a peaceful street ( Millions of motos on main streets and boulevard), and on the 6th floor with a big balcony and a nice room, bath/shower. AC, TV, and elevator, home cooked meals, and a walk to all the action, for $26, including a Moto rental..at La Suisse Hotel
Not sure what price range is midrange however the 62 Tran Phu Hotel directly across the road from the beach should be less than $20 for a room. The address is 62 Tran Phu Street.

My wife and I spent the Lunar New Year at White Sand Resort in Doc Let. The rooms were great, with a deck overlooking the sea. The staff were very friendly. The only problem is that it's really isolated, so you have to eat every meal at the resort. They are having a soft opening with much lower prices until the official opening in May. We paid just over $60/night for a room that will be over $100/night then.
Here's the website: www.whitesandresort.com.vn

Que Huong Hotel is better than 62 Tran Phu. Both are old government hotels, but Que Huong has a pool. 25-40usd/night. Try Asia Paradise on Biet Thu street - starting at 55usd.
Maybe it is 52 Tran Phu Hotel I meant to say at 52 Tran Phu Street. It is not that old and they only put a lift in it around 3 years ago.

I stayed at the Phu Quy 2 hotel which was right near the beach (great view from our room). From memory it was about $35us per night including breakfast (I think the lower levels may be cheaper). The staff were very friendly & always helpful. It does have a pool on the roof but I never used it. It was staggering distance from the sailing club where we semed to end up most nights!

Doc Let is north of Nha Trang. No use going there if city (night) life and such is what youre craving for. If not, no need to stay in Nha Trang, and Doc Let might be an option.
Doc Let has two "resorts": Doc Let Resort which is geared for Vietnamese tourists.
I't opt for Paradise Resort, owned by 80 year old Vladimir Mihic from Croatia (nicknamed Cherry, since no Vietnamese can pronounce Vladimir) and his Vietnamese wife. Bungalows under palm trees, nice beach, US$ 18 when you're alone and 25 double, inclusive of three meals a day plus mineral water, coffee and tea.
Great place to let it all hang out, it sure as hell beats the hustle of Nha Trang.

40km from Nha trang is a bit far alright. Not interested in being right in the hustle bustle but not too far is nice too. When I'm talking mid range I guess I mean no more than $100 for 2. I am not particularly interested in the 5star hotels but hope to get somewhere clean and decent enough for my money. Is there nowhere else not far from Nha Trang but near a beach with bungalows?
Is Nha Trang really worth going to at all? Maybe Phan Thiet would be better. Anyone any opinions?
