Hi,
We are heading to Vietnam later this year and are looking for a quiet beach spot (if it still exists!!) to get away for a week or so at the end of our holiday.
I am open for any suggestions if anyone has been somewhere or knows of somewhere a bit quiet, no parties, basic or otherwise accomm is fine.....north or south??
i have read of a few places but all say tourism and infrastructure growing faster than a bean in the tropics.....i guess thats happenning everywhere.
Would appreciate any help.
M.

It does not get much quieter than Doc Leth, north of Nha Trang.
Basically a fishing village on the sea, with a few modest resorts, on the ocean, and if there are 20 foreigners there in a day, its packed!

Ho coc is between Saigon and Mui Ne. Very quite with few accommodations and a couple of decent restaurants. It is a nice beach next to the forest, sand dunes and the endless coast on either side for you to explore. On weekday the beach is empty besides the local fisherman. Weekend can be busy with locals. I wish I am there now. If you have Google Earth, look up “Latitude 10°29'52.25"N – Longitude 107°28'23.52"E” to see the location.
Quan Lan island: find post #89 in FAQ Vietnam. I also keep 2 more posts about how to go there and where to stay on the island. PM me if you need them.

Ninh Chu Beach, Den Gion Resort, locates in the middle way between Mui Ne and Nha Trang is also another option for you guys choose to stay for few days. It's quiet and clean even though the water's quite salty

these may seem obvious but here goes anyway....
Jungle Beach about 65 kms north of Nha Trang and
Ong Lang Beach on Phu Quoc Island (off the Mekong Delta near Cambodian border)
both really quiet and not crawling with tourists - as in no bars, parties etc, a handful of other tourists staying in the bungalows, villages nearby, all you need to be well-fed and relaxed on-site and not much else. accommodation at Jungle beach is very basic - sort of like camping in a palm-frond tent, really, with shared bathrooms and meals - all but alcohol is included for 300,000 dong a day. things were a bit more solid, and structures aesthetically pleasing and comfortable though more expensive at OngLang (i stayed at Bo resort) but i found it pretty perfect as a place to chill and it's not hugely expensive at $25/night not including food/drink. the only people i'd see in both places were the fewpeople also staying where i was, the staff and locals who'd turn up at the beach usually late in the day. i'm travelling alone and in both places had all the lonesome time i needed and company if i wanted it so it's as private as you want it to be.
