Hello

Has someone had the experience of hiring a local minority guide from the streets in Sapa ? I will be traveling on a low budget in May in Vietnam and I found the 2 local tour agents very expensive. How was your experience ? I prefer visiting many different minority tribes in 4 days of trekking and enjoy long walks.

Tks

You will have no trouble finding a guide in Sapa. There are a lot in the streets, and there are also a couple of shops that specialise in local guides. Depending on your level of patience, and negotiation skills, you may find those places simpler to deal with.

I did a one day hike, it was long but incredibly rewarding. I joined a group that was already going so that made it cheaper for me. It should not be expensive.

As I know, there are local guides in street of Sapa town, so you can easy to book once but personally, you should book guide through agency or ask your hotel to find best one for you which will perhaps have reasonable price than book on street
