Your advise on places to visit for a week in AprilCountry forums / South-East Asia Mainland / Cambodia
Hi, Good morning. We are visiting Cambodia for a week only in April. We enjoy the scenery, history, art and architecture of course the people. Could you please suggest places in the country to go for a weeks stay. I know it is short but we will do the best we can. Thank you in advance.
obviously you have to limit yourself to 2-3 destinations with only one week in cambodia. unless you are absolutely not interested in temples, siem reap for the amazing tmples (angkor wat, angkor thom, ta phrom, banteay srei etc.) is a must. for how long depends on you. some have enough after a day or two, others (like myself) dont get tired of it. the second must (in my opinion of course) is pnohm penh, for the more recent (and tragic) history of cambodia. also for markets, people, food and a lively atmosphere. if you want to include a 3th destination (would be too rushed for me), i think it would be battambang. less touristy than the 2 other destinations, a great for scenery and people. | 1
If Siem Reap and Phnom Penh of course. I would include either Battambang or Kampot only because we found we'd had enough of the temples in SR after a day. | 2
I'd say split your time between Siam Reap (for Angkor Wat) and Battambang. The historic hill temples you can visit from Battambang are really great. But Phnom Pehn really is one of the best big cities in SE Asia, so if you like the capital city thing, then you know where to go. | 3
Based on your time budget & interests, you can think about Siem Reap with Angkor Wat & surround areas in Siem Reap (3.5days), 2 days for Batambang & 1.5day for Phnompenh (you can save time by travelling by night bus or take flight, but I had very bad experience in night bus in Cambodia, so I often fly Siem Reap-Phnompenh) | 4
April in Cambodia will so hot, you should visit beach. I have some suggestions for you: take a sunset cruise off Phnom Penh, eat fresh crab at coastal Kep and trek through the jungle in remote Rattanakiri. Further, you can refer the itinerary at Travelfish | 5
