us dollars in laos

hey

heading to loas in december for a couple of weeks, coming from thailand,

was just wondering if its possible to get us dollars from atm machines in laos or is it only kip?

is it best to get us dollars from thailand or from ones home country before leaving.

only kip and the only ones I knew, were in Vientianne near the river close to Skando bakery,
hit an ATM in Thailand for Baht and as baht is international currency and you can change it anywhere in Laos, or your kiwi money can be changed at banks on the way ie Luam P and Vang V

You can survive in Lao with Kip and Thai Baht.

If you are from the US bring dollars for your Laos bit, your only there for a couple of weeks. Otherwise withdraw Baht in Thailand and use them. Don't do multiple currency exchange.
