tip to find good food in hanoi

Country forums / South-East Asia Mainland

  • pavement food, food in the restaurant is expensive and not tastier / cleaner than pavement food, the Hanoian often eat in the sidewalk.

  • The best traditional dishes are: noodles, pancakes, sliced bread, pate bread, ... should pay the price before buying.

Interesting first post and I agree street food is excellent

If lots of locals are buying then it's a good sign the food is good.

Take note of what the people in front of your are paying and offer the same bill. If you come across as a clueless foreigner you may be charged far too much.

Ah yes, gone but not forgotten! You know if you say his name 3 times he may come back.

5

On that basis- ssshhhh! Be quiet!!

6

Hey, it was said to work for Bloody Mary and Beetlejuice lets not take a chance!

7

certainly not forgotten. How could you forget some of the outrageous/ amazing/utter rubbish stuff he came up with

I used to keep some of the notifications of his "sayings" to make it easier to find contradictions as he did 180 degree turns

I am undertaking a vow of silence just in case

Think you might of missed his ^resignation thread^ ? You were in Africa (Malawi I think?)
If you go back a few months on here, you should be able to read it! It's quite entertaining !!

"I am undertaking a vow of silence just in case" Thank you, and let's hope others will do the same.

#10 I have sewed up my lips to be certain in case I speak in my sleep!

#9 yes was in Malawi July/August and off the internet most of the time and saw his "resignation letter" when I got back. I was surprised at the support he got

I will miss some of his posts like the one where he declared Malaysia was a horrible place, because there were no cheap hotels near the airports with transits, the exchange rate was a rip off and it was expensive to get into KL. However he visited KL a lot as he used it as a hub with flying Air Asia , an airline in other posts he said after more than 60 flights he"hated", .
A quick google on booking.com showed hotels meeting his criteria were easily available, most "regular" travelers would simply have a float of currency so they did not need to change money at the airport and of course the fact the airport is some 75klms from town does have an impact on the cost but the savvy traveler would do the split ticket trick
