'quiet' hotel in hanoi?

Country forums / South-East Asia Mainland / Vietnam

I know I'm driving myself crazy unnecessarily, but the hotels all look the same to me on the web sites--- so would like recommendations-- being quiet is a high priority for me as they seem to offer just about the same other stuff- the ones i've communicated with include: Prince II, Camelia 4, Lucky Star, Classic Street Hotel.. and there was the Manh Dung Guesthouse, a slightly different offering. Thanks for your help! pvj

Most of the these hotels front the street. therefore, it would be best for you to ask and insist on a room at the back of the hotel.

I've been staying at Tung Trang Hotel and i've found it very quiet. Especially if you are at the very back of the hotel.
I've been here for a while now and found that they often have to turn people away, so if you are interested, book ahead!

What is the address of the Prince II - I stayed in a hotel called the Prince II, but there were a couple of hotels with the same name I noticed as I walked around - popular hotels tend to have others copy their name, and I have no idea if I was in an original or knock-off. It was certainly quiet enough and OK for the money - I was in a room way up the back, but that was at the expense of having no window, and every day they'd turn the power off (I think to stop guests from staying in their rooms all day) and forget to turn it back on again. So, a funny little place. Googling, I was in the Prince II at 38 Hai Ba Trung St, whereas I think the Prince II at 42B Hang Giay Street is rather the better of the two.

Even a quiet hotel can sometimes have noisy guests. I find earplugs invaluable.

HI, just got back from my trip to SEA last week and stayed at Camellia 3. I had a room in the back and it was really quiet and clean.

Recently stayed at Lucky Star [in Bat Dan - there are two Lucky Stars in Hanoi] It was fine and we would reccomend in that price range. Quiet rooms in back and middle - we chose a street fron with a balcony which made sure we were awake in time to get on with the day and early morning street/market walks - the most fascinating time in my world.

cheers

They turn the power off when you leave, & they turn them back on when you come back.
