Can I visit the Mekong delta and Halong Bay without booking a tour? I have read mixed reviews.
If you go to Cat ba island you can get a full day tour of Ha long and Lan ha bays for 20 dollars, including lunch, kayaking, swimming, floating fishing village, and a stop off at monkey island for a climb to the 360° viewpoint. | 1
Wow, hell yea!!! Omg, thank you! | 2

I am confused | 4 | |
The Mekong Delta is easy to do by yourself. However, getting there by public bus from HCMC can be a bit of a hassle. I booked a 1 day Mekong Delta tour with Sinh Tours (a bit under $20). I did all the tourist stuff including lunch then got the bus to drop me at the bridge in My Tho so that I could spend the next 3 weeks just wandering around the Delta by myself. Public transport was pretty easy to find and there were lots of accommodation options. | 5

You can visit Mekong Delta and Halong Bay by your own quite easy. From HCMC, you can catch a bus to Mekong Delta and enjoy a night in there and join floating market in the early morning. For Halong Bay, you can catch the shuttle in Old Quarter or bus at My Dinh station to get Halong. However, if you want to travel by cruise in Halong bay, you should book cruise in Hanoi | 7
Awesome and great price for a tour! | 8
Gotcha:). Are cruises expensive? Thank you for you assistsnce! | 9
Traveling by yourself and taking a tour have their own advantages. But if you want to travel slowly and gradually enjoy, it is the best to travel by yourself. For Halong travel, hotel rental should be carefully considered. You are advised not to come here on weekends because the number of tourists is very large and all kinds of prices, especially hotels may be significantly increased. Coming to Mekong Delta, you should use the homestay so that the host will support you while visiting destinations here. | 10
thank you, I am planning a home stay | 11
For mekong delta, you can take a bus to there, no need to book a tour | 12
thanks and what is the name of your village? | 13
My home is in Tan Binh village, Cai Lay Town, Tien Giang province (in the countryside of Mekong delta), about 2 hours by bus from Ho Chi Minh City. When you get there, you can visit the orchard, rice field, bonsai garden and discover life of local people in Mekong delta (if you don't have much time, you can do 1 day trip, go and back to HCMC in the same day). If you have more time (2 days / 1 night), you can go fishing, walk around the village :) | 14
I already have planned to visit Tan Binh Village. Thank you:) | 15
