Mrauk U to Yangon in one day?

Hi,

I want to leave Mrauk U on Fri 3 March and get to Bagan on Saturday 4 March. Is that possible by being sure of getting an afternoon flight from Sittwe to Yangon after the morning boat trip Mrauk U to Sittwe? Or is a bus trip from Sittwe to Magwe and overnight in Magwe before another bus trip from Magwe to Bagan a better option? Don't really want to spend another night in Sittwe as I'll be doing that on the way up to Mrauk U.

You should be able to get a bus from Mrauk U to Bagan. There has been several posts on here in the last few months by people who have gone from Bagan to Mrauk U by bus, so I assume the same Bus goes in the opposite direction. I don't think it goes direct and you have to change bus at some point. It is a very long journey thou- around 24 hours, but at least you would get there on the day you actually want to.

Thanks Chris. I'm hoping to avoid 24 hour bus trips. The go-Myanmar site lists a FMI Air flight leaving Sittwe at 1620 for Yangon but it isn't listed on the FMI schedule. Latest I could find was the KBZ flight ex Sittwe 1505. But unless I could get a fast boat from Mrauk U to Sittwe I wouldn't be confident of getting to that after a 7 hour ferry trip beginning at 0700.
BTW does anyone know if KBZ is a reliable airline?

Yes- KBZ is a reliable airline. KBZ is also one of the national Banks. You can hire a fast boat to get back to Sittwe from Mrauk U. It would be a more viable thing to do if there was a group of you hiring it.

There is a flight with Myanmar National airlines at 16.35 from Sittwe back to Yangon. Have a look at flymya.com.
