Hello, I am in my late 20s. I took all of December off to travel solo and I would love to hear some itinerary ideas.

I am thinking of Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos. I would be grateful to get some itinerary recommendation from people who done something similar. But I am also open to other ideas.

I am usually attracted to places that are less touristy, but where it is easy to get along with people. I am very much into outdoor activities, explorations, and real adventures.

Also happy to hear from people who would like to do some activities during the trip :)

This is a very difficult post to answer. All three have tremendous potential for outdoor activities. All three have very friendly and easy going locals. Of the three I would suggest Viet Nam has the most to offer with Sa Pa, the Mekong delta, Central Highlands, Ninh Binh province all have great areas for outdoors.

I would suggest however, that you possibly remove one country. SE Asia is so much more rewarding travelled slowly. Viet Nam alone can easily use up an entire month.

Just a standard north to south or south to north Vietnam trip would take 3 weeks. With no extra effort you can make it a whole month for Vietnam if you want to include less touristy places, as you say you do.

You could add another country if you skipped part of Vietnam, and go for a combination (for instance) of north plus central Vietnam and north Laos. Or central plus south Vietnam and Cambodia. With that you'd think of central Vietnam as the region around Danang, Hue, and Hoi An.

I came across this Vietnam travel site today, which lists a lot of less visited places: https://north-vietnam.com
And of couse there's the gold standard website for info on SE Asia: www.travelfish.org
