Is evisa accepted at the railway crossing?

Country forums / South-East Asia Mainland / Vietnam

Hi everyone,

Has anyone taken the Nanning Hanoi train and had evisa? I cannot find information whether it is accepted on th train. Th nearby road crossing is on the list. But no idea if it includes train.

Please help
Thank you
Ales

Seen the question several times asked but never answered.

Personally I don't think it is but to be sure someone has to go there and check.

Rail crossing at Dong Đang is not on the list...which would be strange if E-Visas did work there.

This doesn't answer the question, but for e visa to be accepted, there has to be internet connection at the point the e visa is checked. If it is actually checked while on the train, then I would of thought it unlikely!

Vietnamese immigration happens in Dong Dang station. Everybody gets off the train and shuffles about while the immigration guys do their stuff.

(Vietnam has a very good mobile network, so they probably could do it on the train if they wanted. The problem is that if someone is refused entry, they are already in Vietnam...and would need to be supervised until they could be taken back to the border and expelled.)

If it isn't on the official list of entry points for e- visa then you need an ordinary visa in your passport. They aren't going to make an exception for someone.

Update:

It's not possible to take a train to Hanoi with evisa.

One of my Chinese hosts foundin the info online, I guess on the railway company website.

I always double check information so I wrote an email to an online agency.which sells train tickets and they confirmed. Here's their email:

I am afraid that you cannot take the train with Evisa. We need to show your visa copy to purchase the train tickets. The train station will not accept Evisa.

I wanted to ask about it at the border but they just laughed out loud and waved their hands as their English was poor.

I applied for a paper visa in Kunming. 350 RMB Slovak passport. Applied Monday got it Wednesday evening.
