We are travelling to Vietnam in May and would like to visit Halong Bay. We want spend a relaxing 2 days on the bay. Does anyone have any recommendations about booking a tour? Is it best to book before we leave, or is it better to wait until we get to Hanoi? Any recommendations on particular tour companies? They all sound the same if you read their web pages, but I assume some are better than others.

Hi There,
We did the two day cruise with Handspan they are very highly regarded and you will have a wonderful time with them.
You do need to book with Handspan as they do get booked out, we booked online before we left Australia.

I also used Handspan and I highly recommend. I used them 2 years ago and was able to book at there office. However, since say get so many recommendations on TT I could imagine they would be booked out.
As a word of warning, THEY MAY ALL SOUND A LIKE BUT THEY ARE NOT. If you do not go with Handspan be careful as there have been many stories of horrible trips with other companies.
