Friendship-Bridge - Budda Park - Vientiane

Country forums / South-East Asia Mainland / Laos

Hello Guys,

I will arrive Laos from Udon Thani and I am thinking to begin immediately sightseeing after border crossing .
What will be the price for a tuk tuk or taxi ?

Thanks for answers

Ute

Otti why worry about the price of tuk tuk there is a regular bus service direct to Vientianne from Udonthani this drops you off at the central bus station. from here walk Nth to the street with the small ancient pagoda on the right you will see the famous Arch de Triumphe, then left and right on left great breakfast baguette then on to Skandinavian bakery walk to riverside and back to bus station for morning market and bus out of Vientianne to Vang V/ luam P or Ponsivon

Monty that bus won't take people all the way, or even let them on the bus without prior visa. Festival Stories relates that info as being current. Most take the mini bus shuttles out of the airport, hence quest for tuk tuk fare. (I've paid 5000 kip Otti, but 50 baht or a dollar will probably be appreciated. That's for the share tuk tuk they try to push you on to as soon as clearing immigration. It drops you at the central market.)

Otti the buses from Udon Thani and Non Kai both "suggest" that they will not wait for you to get your visa, [I take it you get a bus from Airport to Udonthani bus station]
I have done the Non Kai bus twice now and can say that they will wait and did so, I get off the bus first and head straight to head of queue for visa.
There is a number 14 (?) bus that goes every half an hr or so direct to the central bus station, so once you pass immigration walk past the taxis and tuk tuks to the bus which turns around inside the gate just off the main rd. a tip also is when you leave Thailand pick up the Thai entry form [non visa] this will save you filling it out when you re-enter Thailand

Sorry for misunderstanding ; I will try it again:

I will go after Laos-Bording to the Budda-Park and stay there 1 hour or so and then later go to my prebooked hotel to vientiane.
So I like to know what will be the price for a taxi or a tuk tuk when I order it from the friendship-bridge.

Thanks again

Otti, as much as you are willing to pay. Rates are negotiable.

OP: i don't know about taxi or tuktuk prices. in case you might want to try the bus, purple #14 bus that runs the Vientiane-Tha Deua route stops by Friendship Bridge. Tha Deua-bound buses will stop at the bridge & then continue on to Xieng Khouan (Buddha Park). when i took this route most locals got off at the bridge, so bus was pretty empty for Bridge-Buddha Park part of the journey. cost was 4000kip for Vientiane-Buddha Park, Bridge-Buddha Park should be less. do check that the bus is going in the direction you want before getting on, as on the return journey Vientiane-bound buses will also stop at the bridge. frequency of this bus can be less than 30min, at peak hours about 15min i think...(have to dig up a photo of the schedule).

Get into town, check in, have a shower, rent a motorbike, go sightseeing. Was possible for 10USD last time I was there. Still the same?
