Anyone stayed at Inle Resort (east coast)?

Country forums / South-East Asia Mainland / Myanmar

Dear fellow travelers,

I am thinking about staying at the Inle Resort (not to be confused with the Inle Princess Resort). Can anybody share his/her experiences about this Resort? I know the prices are up from staying in the village of Nyaung Shwe, but being on honeymoon would lik e something special (such as their villa deal). The fact that it is a bit in the middle of nowhere is not a problem for me. Just wondered about the quality of the rooms and scenery. Believe that Inle Princess and Lake View are catered towards tour groups, hope Inle Resort is a bit different?

Any comment is appreciated!

Kind regards,

Erik

We were just in Lake View. A truly great place, if your budget will afford it. WBW

Lake View would be my favourite too, even better than the Princess. Sure they will have groups, but those will be upmarket tours.

Dunno about the Inle Resort, was just about to be finished when I was there, but their massive dining hall makes me shudder just by looking at the pictures and the -burmese style' of the roofs of the bungalows look a little overdone to me...
Had some Chinese architect if you ask me...

I would go for one of the two above, it's your honeymoon, your not doing that too often, so what's a few hundred bucks? Both got much much nicer restaurants than that Inle Resort, plus their rooms are truly fantastic.

Forgot:
Shwe Inn Tha in the middleof the lake was one of the nicer ones on the lake, rooms under 100$ here during peak season.

Shwe Inn Tha looked great. Hope you do not sleep walk! Lake View was less than half full a week ago. No tourists. Try negotiating a price. WBW

Stayed at the Inle Resort 2 years ago, the rooms are lovely. The dining room is quite nice, the food is very good. There are interesting large frogs that hop around the dining room floor in the evening hours. Very polite frogs, just minding there own business. The resort is very quiet, a short walk from the small village where some of the hotel workers live. Be sure to venture in to the village and visit the small grocery stores, packaged cookies and the like for sale. Villagers offer to take you by ox cart to the hot springs or out on the lake.

No tours, only independents travellers when my husband and I were there. The hotel is very quiet, grounds were nice, well landscaped and maintained.

That sounds nice, staying on Inle Lake would be very romantic, as your semi isolated, and the views and local culture is very rich. I was glad as a single chap I detoured to the town, but everytime I went by the various resorts on a boat, at both sunrise and sunset, it was surreal.

Enjoy...the smaller the place the better....you just want a nice bed, hot water, and french doors and deck chairs....a blanket or two depending when, and some Burmese Rose! The Port is not too bad either.

Congrats!

Burma is magical-
