AirAsia date changes and availability: ticketing advice

Country forums / South-East Asia Mainland / Cambodia

Hi folks

I'm looking to fly into Phnom Penh from either Singapore or Bangkok in January. It's a research trip, and I'm not sure how long I'll want to be there (between 2-4 weeks).

I therefore want to be able to make date changes, which leaves two options:

1) Buy a more expensive flexible fare (e.g. Jetstar flex or higher-end airline)
2) Buy a cheap AirAsia ticket and either pay for the fare change (but relies on there still being late availability) OR if the fare is cheap enough, just buy a new ticket

My concern with option 2 is that the prices will be much higher if I'm changing the date at the last minute, or that there won't be seats available.

Any advice is gratefully appreciated!

why don't you just buy it there when you have an idea when you want to leave. It will either be the same price or a little bit more costly. Then you can change your mind without to much worry. Just make sure it isn't school holidays when you are leaving because that will make it more expensive

youll have to buy the aa ticket (return) at least a week in adv imo otherwise hit with higher fares.

im not certain whether you can enter sin w/o onward ticket, i dont think ive ever been asked and you can always leave via jb in malaysia overland????

basically my opinion is that making changes to a super disc aa ticket is folly, toss it away - but you may get something. id like to know how much.
