| alioth19:39 UTC19 Jun 2007 | Hi all
We are planning our next September´s trip to the area, and although our main route is in Vietnam, we will have about 4 days to go to Laos (and another 4 days to Angkor in Cambodia), so, assuming our Laos days will be between a Flight from Siem Reap into Laos and a flight from Laos to Hanoi or vv, .. do you recommend us to go directly to LP and stay there 4 full days or is it Vientiane worth the stop for one night -there is no increase in the plane fare in that case-?
Also, we read about Luang Namtha area (trekking, etc), and it seems to be wonderful but I suppose we have no time for that. If we can steal 1-2 days from from Vietnam´s part of the trip, is it worth the effort and sacrifice? (it can be, for example, not going to Sapa area in Vietnam, or not going to Mekong delta...)
If so, and I Know we can fly to Luang Namtha directly from VTE just the day we would want and stay there 2-3 nights, but then, how can we go to LP in just one day with no flight possibilities? Is is possible to hire a car and driver -we are four people- for that or anything similar?
Any toughts and comments will be welcome
Thanks and greetings from Spain

| Hacky00:28 UTC20 Jun 2007 | 4 days is too hasty rush for Luang Prabang. Forget about getting to Luang Namtha for 1-2 days, come back later when you have longer traveling time.
There are flights from Siem Reap to Luang Prabang (some will connect via Vientiane) and flights from Luang Prabang to Hanoi (again, some flights will connect via Vientiane).
