Hello, I'll arrive at Yangon airport at 9:35 pm. Is it possible to move directly from the airport to Mandalay, (or any other destination North)?
i don't want to spend a day in yangon, and it seems to be impossible to reach the bus station to catch the last bus

thank you

Hi

I go to Mongla in estern Myanmar in about one month.

I just got Myanmar visa in Chiang Mai. I will go by bus from Tachilek via Kentung to Mongla.

I know I need Chinese Yuan in Mongla so I have started buying that in Chiang Mai.

I have visited Kentung before. I know I do not need a guide in Tachilek and Kentung if I have a visa. But for Mongla I am not sure if I will be forced to use a guide? (I have lived in China, in the province bordering to Myanmar and speak the language so I do not…

Just a quick travel update to give those of you who are thinking of travelling to Mruak U – Pyay – Yangon some recent info(exchange rate used $1 USD = 1300 Kyats)

Plane landed at Yangom International Airport at 19:15, E-visa, bit of a queue, but no bags to collect so basically quickly through. Took a taxi to Aung Mingalar Bus Station(5,000 from outide of the airport terminal) – arrived just before 20:30. Managed to find a bus leaving for Magwe at 20:30. Perfect – 10,000. Bus stopped for food…

Hello

I go to Mongla/Myanmar where they use Chinese Renminbi. I am thinking of which is the best way to buy RMB, and after the visit sell remaining (if any :) ) RMB. (If I sell for Kyat, Dollar or Baht is not important.)

I am now in Chiang Mai. I will soon check if I can buy RMB here.

My route will probably be
Chiang Mai - Tachilek - Kentung - Mongla - back to Kentung, air from Kt or Tachilek to Yangon and bus back into Thailand.

I am not aware how easy it is to buy/sell RMB outside China…

I am at the part of planning where I need to ask "Am I pushing it?" I have 6 weeks after landing in Bangkok (end of January) and would like to visit Laos from Vientiane to the Luang Prabang area and Cambodia from Siem Reep south to the islands. I enjoy eating, walking, diving, meeting people and getting to know the culture. The question is whether adding Myanmar (Yanggon to Bagan) to the itinerary is too much. I know these itinerary questions become tiresome but this is a crucial point of…

Hello!
What is the most prudent way to get from Bagan to Mrauk U?
Is it realistic to accomplish this in one day or is an overnight stay in Sittwe necessary to get a boat to MraukU?

I was thinking of flying NyaungU - Thandwe(or Yangon?) - Sittwe but haven't found much useful information on the airline homepages.
Should I let a travel agent arrange this?

Also I'm still not sure about the boat options from Sittwe to MraukU. I'll leave from Bagan on Jan 17th (Sun) and would arrive in Sittwe at noon…

I know there are loads of posts like this, but I'd be really grateful for any feedback on my planned itinerary for a 4 week trip in January. I'm trying to get the right balance between seeing as much as I can, but not travelling every day - I generally prefer 2-3 days in each place. My flights into Yangon and out of Mandalay are booked, but everything else is flexible.

1 Arrive Yangon
2 Yangon
3 Yangon
4 Yangon, night train or bus to Mawlamyine
5 Mawlamyine
6 Mawlamyine
7 Bus to Hpa'an
8 Hpa'an
9…

Hello fellow travellers

After some unexpected changes I am flying tomorrow to Yangon.
My plan is going to north Mynmar then entering Thailand through North border and come back to Bangkok. Clockwise loop.
I have been reading some itineries. they are mostly with flies etc. Can anyone give me an itinary idea without flying up to north thailand border.
My interest is spending less time in big cities ( must see things OK ) , stay homestays if available, discover local food and people.
Actually thats…
