Hello all. What is your recent experience using VISA and/or MasterCard to pay for airline tickets and hotels in country? We are sorting out the money and would rather not make daily trips to the ATM to pull out Kyat as transaction fees do add up. Also, we have reserved several hotels through Booking.com but not actually paid yet. Thoughts and advice would be great.

Hi folks!

just starting doing a bit of planning for my upcoming myanamar trip and could really do with some first had advice.

Basically i'd like to have a few chilling out days in Ngapali, BUT my better half absolutely hates flying, hence I'm looking at getting to ngapali via bus.
Now I read loads of different reports on the pyay to Thandwe/ngapali via bus, but while they pretty much all agree it's a long and gruesome trip, some seem to suggest they did the journey in a modern aircond bus…

Hi, if you happen to be a juggler, acrobat, poi or staff swinger visiting Yangon this weekend and looking for something interesting to do, we need volunteers to help with our social circus project, specific the day of fun 11am-4pm, doing workshops with our young circus teams on Saturday. More details and contact info on seriousfunglobal.net .

Hi,

We will be traveling to Myanmar in July for 25 days. I know it wet season in July. Is it a good idea to go trekking from Kalaw to Inle Lake? 1day or 2?
The idea is to start in Yangon => Kalaw => Inle Lake => Hsipaw => Kyaukme =>Pyin Oo Lwin => Mandalay => Bagan => Yangon
Is this a good itinerary? We would like to do it by bus / train (Kyaukme to Pyin oo Lwin)/ boat (Mandalay to Bagan).
Any tips or suggestions are more than welcome.

Thanks

Hello travelers
I'd like some advice on how to travel from Yangon to Golden Rock then onto Inle lake....

it seems the options might be:
Yangon bus to Kinpun (Golden Rock)
then bus to Inle Lake via Bago
-or-
Yangon bus to Kinpun round trip
flight out of Yangon to Inle Lake

thoughts?
I'm on a time constraint, unfortunately, and have budgeted for one domestic flight if necessary to help with time.
I'll be traveling to Bagan after Inle Lake then onto Mandalay area afterwards. Thanks for any and all…

I will be flying in from South Korea and I would like to know what I can bring into Myanmar as far as purchases from Korean duty free (I plan to buy things on behalf of Korean friends). According to the Myanmar Customs site (http://www.myanmarcustoms.gov.mm/passengerdualchannelsystem.aspx) only 150 ml of perfume is allowed, so I guess stocking up on perfumes is out. That site also claims that you need to declare your cell phone upon entry. I never would have thought of that - is that correct…

Hello!

Looking into biking or hiking around kalaw for a day. Wondering if this is easy to do without a guide? Looking at the satellite view on my map it seems easy to point out trails to villages. Has anyone done this solo before?

Thanks!

Hi all, does anyone can say if recently satellite phones are forbidden in Myanmar?
I've read some old posts regarding this question but it was about 3 years ago. I'm leaving to Myanmar and I would like to bring my satellite phone. In the case I will bring it with me and they don't allow it what does it will happen? I suppose they will take it and give it back on my leaving right? Thanks a lot for your feedbacks. Dan

I'm an expat American traveling through Yangon and staying the downtown area and want to watch the Super Bowl but have come up short on if a place airs it, does anyone know?
I read the threads from a few years back and the Savoy Hotel is not showing it publicly (need to stay there to watch it) and Bar 38 does not seem to exist in present day.
Any and all help would be great.
Thanks
