I was planning to travel to Mindat on February 18th. Taxi Nyauk-U to Pakkoku then Bus leaving at 7am. Now I heard all guest houses are booked out due to the chin holiday. No travel agent seems to be able to pre-book. Does anyone have a phone number of a guest house on Mindat?

Having travelled with drivers in India & experiencing vast array in skill, safety & passenger comfort, I am wondering if anyone can recommend driver for Myanmar? TIA

We're hoping to arrange a 3 day trek from Nyuangshwe to Kalaw (this direction it's our itinerary better than the other way). Can anybody recommend a guide or outfit we could book with please? We arrive in Nyuangshwe later this week & time there is limited so any suggestions re trek guides would be much appreciated. One way to free up time would be to opt for a 2 day trek. Will we miss a lot doing it that way? It would give us an extra day in Kalaw. But is that a good trade off? Any advice would…

As it seems that all the tickets for the night bus from Nyaung Shwe (Inle lake) to Mandalay have been sold out for the ride on the 18th of Feb. (Thursday - Friday) we (me and a friend) are looking for someone who'd like to share transportation expenses (probably a taxi, but if there's more of us - a minivan) for this route.

Also, if you'd like to join us for trekking from Kalaw to Inle on Tuesday and Wednesday, feel free to contact us.

Arriving from Loikaw by boat on March 21st, 2016, I intend to visit the Kakku Paya Pwe through the Golden Island Cottages (GIC, the Pa-O organization). Meeting point would be the Mawbe bridge around 12:30PM, then transportation to Kakku.

Hi everyone,

I have an approved visa to visit Myanmar and from there would like to fly into Bangladesh (specifically Dhaka) to visit an old college friend. My Bangladeshi friends tell me that visa on arrival into Bangladesh is the preferred method of entry (am eligible as a US citizen), but I'm concerned that Myanmar won't let me travel en route to Bangladesh without a proper visa. Haven't been able to find answers to this specific question on either embassy's websites.

I saw the below on another website, but noticed that it was last updated in 2012. Therefore, some of it may have changed by now. I'm particularly interested in entering Myanmar at Tachileik and doing my own thing from there. However, according to the below, that may not be possible (I hope it's changed). So I am travelling to Myanmar in a couple of weeks, and will be flying into Yangon from Kunming in China. Does anyone have any experience of this route? And also the Myanmar embassy in Kunming, does anyone know how quick they are at issuing visas for UK citizens? I originally read that you could get a visa on arrival, but have now been confused by some stuff I have read, so assume I need to get one before I get there.
