I'm going to Myanmar in August, during raining season. I want to know what would be the safest road to get to Inle Lake by bus: either from Bagan or from Mandalay. Also, are floodings usual in Inle Lake during August or not?

Does anyone have any suggestions? I see so many place online. From the very expensive to budget; but not much in the middle range. Would prefer in the city center.

Hi, I am arriving 3rd of September with Bangkok Airlines in Mandalay (2pm) and want to proceed to Bagan same day.
Flying would be easiest, but I am not convinced about safety... (any disagreement? is there a "good" airline?)
Train would sound perfect, leaving 21:00, arriving 5:00, 1st class tickets 15$... but I am reading a lot that trains in Myanmar are horror, often many hours late and extremely bumpy, so that you get out with a headache (Other experience anyone on that route?)

From what I've read its unclear exactly how far you have to walk in bare feet when you get up there, can anyone explain exactly how far you need to walk? I'm asking on behalf of a friend who is adverse to walking barefoot. Cheers.
