Hi Travellers,
I want to enter Myanmar overland at Mai Sai/Taichilek and proceed later to Heho by Air. Last year I met Travelers at Kaingtong, who did the same. I know, that the rules at that point of entry had often changed in the past. I would like to get actual informations (after the september-demonstrations) from people, who recently tried i.e. did this way.
I mean: I want to travel overland to Taichilek, fly to Heho by Yangon Airways, proceed to Mandalay and at least leave the oountry on…

Hi all, just returned home after 17 days in Myanmar. In no way did I feel threatened, intimidated or under duress. There are very few tourists in Myanmar. Little to no sign of authorities or military.

I found the people to be friendly, welcoming and hospitable. I also thing that a lot of people are 'doing it hard' because of the lack of tourists. The hotel/accommodation people, those involved in transport, and restaurants. Even the pesky touts, trying to sell you postcards have a look of…

Hi there,

I'm in the process of booking a ten day trip to Burma. I'll be flying from BKK. I haven't booked my ticket to Yangon yet, just looked around on the internet a bit. The prices I'm seeing for flights are 2200 Baht on Air Asia, 4300 Baht on Bangkok Airways and a whopping 7400 Baht on Thai Airways. Should I go ahead and book the Air Asia flight now since the price seems fair enough? Would I do any better going to a travel agent when I get to BKK a couple days beforehand? Also is it better…

Hi:

I am new to this forum, and I just registered today to seek some information on "overland from West Yunan, China to NorthEast Myanmar".
I am trying to map out my trek starting from Kunming...

On nthe map, I see two roads but I am not sure if they are passable:
Kunming - Baoshan - Wandingzhen >>> Moingzu - Mandalay
Kunming - Jinghong - Daluo >>> Mongma - Meiktila

After the visit, I prefer to fly out from Yangon to Bangkok.

Please give me your advice on the dos and donts, and the possibility and…

Hello travellers,
I want, to travel to Myanmar after Nov19th. In the last years I traveled six times in this special country with the lovely people. Now I am looking for new informations about the situation for traveller after the crackdown of the monk demonstrations end of september:
Are there any new restrictions for tourists according to the areas, wich are acessable for foreign travellers. Is it possible, to enter the country at Taichilek/Mai Sai.
Are there restrictions to bring cameras or to…

Just came back from Myanmar. (November 4)

This was my first trip, so i cannot really be sure, but looking to how many hotels, eatery for tourists and something -- it was a quite popular place. Now its absolutely empty in Inle or Bagan. In every pyay (stupa, wat, pagoda) i was only one foreign tourist at whole building. Including popular ones, where lp guidebook says "too crowded" and something like.

== ABOUT MYANMAR CURRENT SITUATION ==

If you planning to go in Myanmar and now think go or not to --…

How reliable are flights on Air Mandalay? Is it wishful thinking to think I can leave Bagan in the morning (7:55) in time to get to Yangon, change terminals and then catch a connection a 1:50 Bangkok Air connection to Bangkok? Advice would be greatly appreciated. (Would it be wiser for me to leave Bagan the day in order to make the 1:50 Yangon to Bangkok flight) Am on a tight schedule. Thanks so much!!

I am "hopefully" going to Myanmar in Feb .... I read somewhere that it may be difficult to get a passport but the poster was trying to get it from BKK. Does anyone know if it is difficult to get a passport to Myanmar from the US consulate?

Thanks
