Trekking in the Putao area will involve travelling into ^no go^ areas for foreigners. This will involve getting permits to be able to do it, which can take up to a Month to get and cost a lot of Dollars. I don't think you are even allowed to leave the town of Putao without Permits!

I would not expect to much wildlife in Myanmar or most SE Asia countries.

Kyaukme/Hsipaw is similar landscape to around Kalaw/Inle. It's also had a fair amount of fighting recently and there are landmines in places so don't go wandering around just anywhere. Mindat may give you what you want but I have not been there yet.

^ I would not expect to much wildlife in Myanmar^ - that's because the locals have eaten most of It!

If you are interested in forests, wildlife and scenery while trekking then I wouldn't bother with the area around Kalaw and Inle lake. This area is very scrubby with mostly grasses, small trees and small hills. On the other hand, if you want to visit lovely little ethnic villages then I'd recommend the area around Kalaw and Inle Lake.
