Hello everyone!
We would like to go sea kayaking in the south on Myanmar. Up to now I could only find very fancy sailing tours with a little sea kayaking, which is not what we are interested in. We would like to move by sea kayaks and don't need any luxury. But as we are not very experienced, we will need some kind of guide, I guess. Anyone knows some agency who provides individual services like that?
Thanks for your advices, S.

As far as i know there are no individual services, only expensive tours. No resorts on the islands except one, not many beaches - most are just jungle, mangrove and very few beaches. It's not a popular destination yet and only few islands will perhaps have bungalows or hotels in .... 10 years .
The first large island is also 10km from Myeik - are you a very experiences sea-kayaker? Some islands are 50 or 100km apart and are patrolled by the navy (you need a permit from the MTT except for some of the closest islands). It's not the Mediterranean Sea though in a modern sailing boat it's a good holiday.

I'm pretty sure that you can only travel by any type of boat in that area of the country by using an official approved tour company. They all seem to be in the ^luxury^ end of the market and the prices are well into the thousands of US Dollars! To attempt to do it on your own would involve having to apply for the necessary permits which can take a very long time and there is no guarantee you would be issued with them anyway even after a long Wait!

Thanks a lot for your answers. Yes, we definitely expected, that we could not do it on our own. We are not experienced sea-kayakers and also we are aware of the permit situation. My impression was also, that all tours offered are on the luxury end, as you described it. We are fine with paying a fair amount of course, but I am just not a big fan of those tours, where there are several people around you serving you.

As far as I know, when you arrive there, you can ask your hotel for the service what you want.If you buy in advance, it 'll be all inclusive packages and may be high. So, my recommendation is, just make an enquiry the hotel before you book whether they can give your desire service or not.

Maybe contact these guys. They have been around a long time and maybe able to answer
your question. They are also nature experts.
