I have read that many of the Yangon night market stalls which used to be on the streets have been moved to one location near the Strand Hotel. Has anyone visited the new market and what's it like? Does anyone know if the night street stalls from Little India have been moved?

Many thanks.

I was there on the first night it opened, 10 December 2016 if I remenber well. I was staying at the Willow Inn on Merchant Street two blocs away. It extended on a few streets east and south of the Maha Bandula Park. The usual bbq, noodles, fruits and veggies stalls, etc. Plus a few outdoor platform for dance show, only for the opening? And a lot of golden decoration in the streets and ballon for kids. Maybe it will evolve, but it looked very kitchy on the opening day, as many recent temple in the country do. The police and army were very present on opening day because there were inaugural events with top brass guests. All that said, the area is the epicenter of the large british colonial building, some decaying, but many renovated or in process to be. It is also were the wealthier tourist hang around.
