Is it true you have to pay admission fee (10$) for some pagoda's? Does someone know for what pagoda's you have to pay?

When you arrive in Nyang Oo you must pay $10 to the Archeaology Bagan Cultural Heritage Zone, which means that you must pay it, and only time you get asked for the receipt is when you check into a Guest House/Hotel. Thats it, you never get asked again, or at least I didn't.

Thanks,
I had to be more specific: I mean in the town of Mandalay. I don't know if there was a pagoda in Bagan with the name Mandalay.
as a "tourist" you pay for entry at all the sites ie Bagan, Schwedigon, Inle lake, Mandalay, Pindaya caves etc etc etc some are $6 some are $10, my Japanese friend got in free they thought he was Burmese

You pay a $10 fee for all the sites in Mandalay and around (includes Amarapura). When I was there last year I paid nothing because no one checked and I never went to the Palace. Includes, I think, Mandalay Hill, the Palace, Mahamuni Paya, Atumashi Kyaung, Kuthodaw Paya, and some others. This blanket fee seems to be the trend. You pay a blanket fee (differing amounts) in Mandalay, Bagan, Bago, and Mrauk U.

Yes, true.. it used to be USD 5.00 per site, now most things are included in the USD 10.00 "combo ticket"...
However, not included in this ticket is the entry to Mingun and Sagaing... That will cost an extra USD 3.00... (for both).

Sule pagode has no entrance fee, but when you enter the pagode as tourist :
your shoes will be put in a locker and you are expected to give a donation to the temple . Something like 500 Kyat or 1000 Kyat will do.
Shweggadon pagode has a tourist entrance fee of 5 dollar (including camera allowed to take pictures). I guess a viedo will require an additional fee.
Bagan has a 10 dollar entrance fee (on the road to Bagan); not for a specific temple. But for none of the temples we were asked for donations or additional entrance fees.
Inle lake has also an entrance fee of 3 dollars for entering the region.
Mingun has an entrance fee (requested before boarding the boat to Mingun) of 3 dollar . Same entrance ticket is valid for Sagaing Hill.
Mandaly Hill has no entrance fee, but close to the top, before the elevator/ rolling stairs, people will desperately try to lock you shoes in a cupboard and expect a donation of 100 to 200 Kyat in return.
A truck can bring to close to the top, but that is also a fee service.
Mandalay palace has an entrance fee of 10 dollars, but I did not went there, not to the other palace related to the same ticket.
