Hi
Within the next few days I will travel to Mindat or Kanpetlet from Bagan by bus. After visiting Mt Victoria and that area, I would like to travel north to Falam, Hakha, Tidim and maybe Matupi.
What would be the best route to take? Also, any recommendations on Guest Houses?

Mindat has a few guesthouses, Kanpalet only 1, maybe 2, in town plus a couple more expensive bungalow type 'resorts' on the ridge above the town. Not sure of names, but check Trip Advisor Myanmar forum as one regular there has posted good trip reports for both Mindat and Kanpalet last year.
Matpui...was some years ago when I was there, when permit was needed for all Chin state, and the only accommodation was a govt resthouse. Long as there is not a group of govt officials when you get there (if you get there) then you'd get a room no problem.
A Thai based Xpat guy also on TA reckons he did a motorbike trip from nth Chin State down thru Matupi to sth Chin state late last year, without any permit. Until mid-last year Matupi was the only place you still needed one, making it very difficult to do a run thru, but sounds like that has changed.
PS...route to take...pretty sure there is only one road to take from Mnidat to Matupi.
