firstly, around this time you will definitely not be able to get any flight/bus tickets to/from any beaches at short notice, as it's Thingyan holidays, and every Burmese who can afford it will travel to/from any beach. Esp. Chaungtha will be loud/noisy/crowded/dirty ... In Ngapali it will be very hard to find any room for a reasonable price at this time ... If you wait a few days more (end of april) it should be easy - the weather is perfect in Ngapali, very few visitors, you'll have the beach for yourself - 2nd best time to go (after october/novemer) - then also room rates will drop significantly (compared to Thingyan holidays) and also transport can be organized easily ... Forget Chaungtha, go to Ngapali from around 24/25 april, you won't regret it ... I had been working there for 3 years (in a hotel) ... @teenparty: of course Pyin Oo Lwin (Maymyo) or Inle are also nice, but then you should decide for yourself first if you want to go to a beach or rather to the mountains (hills) cheers from YGN all
