I think I have this thing figured out... how does the order of this itinerary look? Still trying to figure out some of the transportation between destinations. Would you add or remove days anywhere? I do plan on booking accommodations ahead for convenience (husband is picky), but I realize that we may have to be flexible due to heavy rains.

6/16 - Yangon (arrive mid afternoon)
17 - Yangon
18 - Depart Bagan (fly?)
19 - Bagan
20 - Bagan
21 - Bagan, take night bus to Kalaw
22 - Kalaw
23 - Depart for 3 day/2 night trek to Inle
24 - Trek
25 - Trek/Inle Lake
26 - Inle Lake
27 - Inle Lake
28 - Inle Lake
29 - Depart for Pyin Oo Lwin (not sure how to travel yet)
30 - Pyin Oo Lwin
7/1 - Train to Hsipaw
2 - Hsipaw (would possibly do a trek here as well)
3 - Hsipaw
4 - Bus to Mandalay
5 - Mandalay
6 - Depart for Chiang Mai/Rai

I think this looks reasonable in terms of order, number of days.

Some people love Pyin U Lwin, but we found the overwhelming military presence oppressive. There are military academies in town and many generals own homes there (they are pulling down the old houses and putting up McMansions), so even the markets were filled with soldiers when we were there in 2011. Because of that experience, we opted not to return when we were in Mandalay this year. Personally, I found Sagaing (just outside of Mandalay) much more beautiful and interesting than Pyin U Lwin.

Thanks for the feedback! We were only stopping in Pyin U Lwin to break up the trip to Hsipaw, perhaps we will reconsider.
