I'm trying to get a Myanmar visa in Bangkok. I've heard various things, like, no problem, I got it in days, to: had to fly to KL or something like that. Just trying to get the Final Word on the Myanmar Visa situation for regular ol' tourists in Bangkok.

How long does it take?

How much is it for a single-entry? Just want to go to Bagan for a few days.

Thanks again ...

Some people report being fobbed off with tales about the paperwork having to be sent to Myanmar before approval can be granted. You best bet is to have some kind of "certificate" stating your occupation with you when you go to the embassy outside their home country (make sure you don't put journalist or the like on it). Some people get the visa, some don’t. Depends on the individual, it seems.

we had no problems. i'd recommend getting a travel agent to lodge the paper work for u, takes all the fuss out of it. u pay a bit extra but it saves u the heartache of lining up at the embassy.

namthip,

What travel agent did you use, and how long ago was it? I must have been to at least 30 of them and they all said the same thing. The embassy only allow you to apply in person. I also asked when i was at the embassy and they also told me that you are only allowed to apply in person.

The agency you used must have some very powerful connections if they could sort that out...

I've just got Myanmar visa last week (together with 3 Thai friends)

It seems Myanmar embassy in BKK only allow Thai people in, they're so afraid of International press.

I went to a bunch of travel agents today in BKK. Apparently the Myanmar Embassy isn't giving out visas to anyone at the moment.

But that's this week, will try again next week. Lol.

I could say that "it's very easy to apply Myanmar visa in Bangkok". I went to embassy on Friday, last week, to apply visa. Then got it on Tuesday later. A half of people are foreigner. They appeared that every thing is OK. Oh! I'm Thai.
