Hi,
I'm wondering if it's possible to travel from Jinghong, China down to Chiang Rai, Thailand via Myanmar. We were thinking of going via the Daluo (PRC)/Mong La (MYAN) border crossing, down through Kengtung, and then into Thailand at the Tachileik (MYAN)/Mae Sai (THAI) border crossing. Has anyone done this? We already have our Chinese visas and we would be getting Myanmar visas before our trip.

Christhetrav-Under normal circumstances, no, not possible. Now, even less than before.

Mailar-Mong La is Wa territory, and you MIGHT be able to enter Myanmar there, but you would not get very far before you were turned back.

Better to just fly from Kunming to Yangon.

Or, since you are in Jinghong, take the boat from there or Guanlei to Chiang Saen, Thailand.

It is possible yes. It is going to be expensive (cheaper to fly) and difficult to arrange. I would follow the advice of #2 or #3.
