Hallo friends!

I would like to ask where is the best place to change money after arrival in Yangon airport?
Should I change it at the airport or somewhere in town centre?

Many thanks!

Nina

At the airport-fixed prices and depending on your arrival time there will be up to 9 Banks open changing into kyat - plus 2 ATM,s
Their are Banks air side by the luggage carousels, and a couple just outside.

You're planning to change EUR, I assume? The primary currencies accepted for exchange at airports are EUR, USD and SGD. To change THB and other currencies you will need to find an exchange office in the city.

Before you ask, the standard rate for a taxi into the city is $8 to $10. You can buy a prepaid voucher from a stand inside the arrivals area but before you exit to the public space. Watch out for freelance 'porters' who may try to seize your luggage to carry it to the taxi. They will want payment for this small service.

Nina...the exchange rate at any of the official changers (which is where you should change...NOT street changers)whether at the airport or in the city, are VERY similar...so there is no point to change a large amount at the airport on arrival...change a few hundred, then change more later elsewhere as you need.
$ US, Euro and Singapore $ are accepted at pretty well all official changers....and actually, Thai Baht and Malaysian Ringgit are now accepted @ at least 3 of the Yangon airport changers - to change these currencies in the city would be harder.

Thank you all so much for help!
I come from Europe but I'm thinking of bringing the US dollars. I also wanted to ask what is the better way to pay..in US dollars or in Kyat?

Other than top end hotels and airlines everyone now takes kyat.

pretty well everything can be paid for with Kyat now...so no point loosing money by changing Euro to $US.....just take Euro to buy Kyat at official changers
