Can I travel from Myanmar to Bangladesh without a Bangladesh visa?

As you will arrive by air at Dhaka International Airport, you can have a VOA (single entry, 30 days) without stress. Why do you want "spend your time" to purchase one in advance ?

the OPs question seems more about possible issues when departing Myanmar without a Bangladesh Visa in their passport...Myanmar Immigration wont care, but the only possible problem 'might' be the airline (depending which airline..) not wanting to check you in without a Bangladesh Visa...??

Like rivaltribal says, it's the airlines that cause issues rather than immigration. Maybe bring printed information confirming that US citizens don't need a visa?

What airline is it? If it's something more "international" like Air Asia there really shouldn't be any confusion, but it couldn't hurt to bring the printed info. The only time I've ever had an issue was in Sri Lanka, on Sri Lankan Airlines (much smaller than Air Asia), where the check-in agent tried to prevent me from getting on a flight to Thailand without a visa. It would have never occurred to me to bring any "proof" that I didn't need it, as Thailand is such a common tourist destination, and there aren't too many situations where US passports are examined closely for visas...

Do you already have an exit flight from Bangladesh? You can also show that to the agent in Myanmar.

Normally, at the airport, for the check-in, the company will use Timatic to see what you need to have before boarding. They will see if you are in the conditions to receive a VOA at Dhaka.

# 3: Strangely no Australian airline (Qantas, Jetstar, Virgin Australia)will allow one way travel to Thailand. Yes we all know that the we won't be stopped from entering Thailand but the Timatic site actually says that the Thai authorities may ask for and onwards ticket. Last Friday I was nearly stopped from checking in on a Thai Airways flight from Chennai to Bangkok...I was just lucky that I could persuade the Check-In supervisor to let me on the flight.

However...to return to the point of this post ...VOA is very much accepted and doesn't require an onward ticket. Bangladesh is one of the easiest countries on the Sub-Continent to visit.
